Suggestions make the suggestor feel good, often at the expense of the depressed individual.
"Have you done this?" often sends someone down rabbit holes. "Well, if you haven't tried, then you're not going to get better, are you?"
"You keep shooting down suggestions."
And on, and on.
This is effectively saying, "You're so depressed, you shouldn't learn to listen to or trust your own guidance. Listen to me instead."
It puts the suggestor in control.
Encourage the depressed individual to listen to themselves and hear their inner voice.
We can keep our mouths shut and listen.
